The government has reaffirmed that the Ethanol Blending Programme is grounded in scientific validation and is being monitored on an ongoing basis. It said misleading and unverified claims circulating on social media about Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) are intended to confuse and mislead the public. According to the government, implementation of the programme is being closely tracked in coordination with oil marketing companies, automobile manufacturers, fuel testing agencies and other stakeholders. It added that since the rollout of E20 petrol, there have been no reports of widespread engine failures or vehicle breakdowns linked to ethanol blending.
