Cochin Shipyard Limited, based in Kochi, has delivered the Indian Navy its third Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW SWC), *Mangrol*.
The Ministry of Defence said the vessel features more than 80% indigenous content. Designed for underwater surveillance, it can conduct anti-submarine warfare missions in coastal waters and support low-intensity maritime operations, while also offering mine warfare capability. The ministry added that the craft is water-jet propelled and fitted with modern torpedoes, anti-submarine rockets, and advanced radar and sonar systems. It noted that the delivery underscores the increasing strength of India’s homegrown defence manufacturing ecosystem.
