Uzbekistan to allow Indians 30 days of visa-free travel

Uzbekistan has rolled out a 30-day visa-free policy for Indian passport holders. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev made the announcement on August 30 during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Tashkent, according to ANI.

"The introduction of a 30-day visa-free regime for Indian citizens will make a significant contribution to the development of people-to-people contacts, tourism, and business exchanges," Mirziyoyev said.

Mirziyoyev called India a "reliable strategic partner" and highlighted expanding trade, growing investment ties and stronger air connectivity between the two nations.

"India is our reliable strategic partner. Last year, our bilateral trade exceeded USD 1 billion for the first time. In recent years, the number of joint ventures has increased sevenfold. There are now 14 direct flights between our countries every week," Mirziyoyev said.

So far, Indian travellers have needed to apply for an Uzbek e-visa before departing. Under the new policy, that step will no longer be required for qualifying visits of up to 30 days, though Uzbek authorities have yet to publish the formal order and start date.
