An automated information system, “PB Specialist,” has introduced a mechanism for conducting the practical part of the professional exam using interactive 3D modeling. The applicant works with a spatial model of a technical device and completes the tasks предусмотренные by the set of assessment tools.
“Thus, what is assessed is not an abstract answer but the application of knowledge to a specific production situation,” Zubkov noted.
At present, the mechanism is used in two areas for assessing the qualifications of experts in the industrial safety of technical devices—for a gas pressure regulating station and a drilling rig. The next area should be the mining industry, прежде всего facilities related to underground operations.
“It is fundamentally important that the digital model does not replace the professional judgment of the examination commission and does not turn the exam into a computer game. It is a tool for improving the quality of assessment,” the CCI RF vice president emphasized.
According to him, the use of 3D models makes it possible to standardize the conditions for completing practical tasks and more accurately compare applicants’ results.
“Introducing practical tasks based on 3D models is not just a technological update of the exam. It is a shift from predominantly testing knowledge to comprehensive подтверждение of qualifications,” Zubkov concluded.
