Tesla has launched its sixth India Experience Centre, opening a new location at Express Avenue Mall in Chennai as it strengthens retail outreach and after-sales support in Tamil Nadu. The Chennai outlet joins the company’s existing Experience Centres in Mumbai, Gurugram, Delhi, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

Alongside the showroom, Tesla has initiated service and body-shop operations in Chennai, bringing its total service and body-shop footprint in India to eight sites.

“We are very excited about it. We already have our experience centers in Mumbai, Gurugram, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and now we are in Chennai,” said Sharad Agarwal, head of Tesla India.

According to the company, the Chennai Experience Centre will offer customer консультации, test drives and assistance with vehicle deliveries. Tesla also said it has enabled Tesla-approved collision repair and service support in Poonamallee, including access to genuine parts, trained technicians, diagnostics aligned with its software systems, and collision-repair services.

“We have built the capability to establish a home charging network anywhere in this country -- in any city or state. And we are already delivering across the country. We have delivered Tesla in more than twenty-one states,” Mr. Agarwal said.

Tesla currently operates five Supercharging stations in India and is expanding both destination charging and home-charging options, he added.

The company continues to sell directly to customers, meaning buyers can place orders without visiting an Experience Centre. “You really don’t need the experience center to buy a Tesla. You can order your car anywhere in the world or in the country and we’ll bring the car to you,” he said.

In India, Tesla is offering the Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive at ₹50.89 lakh, with a claimed WLTP range of up to 500 km. The three-row, six-seat Model Y L starts at ₹61.99 lakh and is claimed to deliver up to 681 km of range. Tesla said customers who order in September may receive delivery before Diwali, provided all required steps are completed on time.

Mr. Agarwal also said Tesla’s ownership approach is intended to limit routine workshop visits. He claimed there is no prescribed maintenance schedule for Tesla vehicles and that more than 70% of issues can be addressed remotely. For cases that can’t be resolved that way, the company deploys mobile service, while workshop appointments are used for more serious problems.

Tesla vehicles also gain new capabilities through over-the-air software updates. The company recently rolled out Grok AI in its cars, and Mr. Agarwal said the assistant can communicate in Indian languages, including Tamil, and operate various vehicle functions through voice commands. “With this Grok AI, you can actually control a lot of features inside the car. So you no longer have to touch and find the features. You just sit and give command,” he said.
