The project ran from September to December of this year with the support of the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Culture "ROSCONCERT" at the Sirius Educational Center and in two regions—Sverdlovsk and Kemerovo oblasts. The final program of the year took place from December 1 to 10 at Sirius.
Mentors for teachers from children’s music schools, music departments of art schools, secondary specialized and higher music educational institutions included instructors from the Moscow and St. Petersburg Conservatories, the Central Music School—Academy of Performing Arts, the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, and the A.G. Schnittke Moscow State Institute of Music. The experts conducted over 700 masterclasses in nine specialties: piano, violin, cello, clarinet, flute, oboe, trumpet, trombone/tuba, and percussion instruments.
“Sirius strives to reach every gifted child. Hundreds of talented young musicians from all over Russia come to the Educational Center, where they acquire new skills. Their performance level needs to be maintained and developed afterward. We see this opportunity in working with music teachers. Therefore, Sirius is building a system to help teachers improve, enabling them to train thousands of talented children across the country, even in the most remote regions,” says Pavel Milyukov, Music Director of the Talent and Success Foundation.
A key feature of the project is that Russian teachers learn alongside young musicians. Under the guidance of mentors, schoolchildren practice technical and expressive performance techniques daily in masterclasses. Meanwhile, teachers observe how their more experienced colleagues instruct the children and familiarize themselves with the experts’ original methodologies, designed to guide talented students step by step toward a major performance career. Roundtable discussions focus on teaching practices for instrumental performance, preparing children for concert performances, and psychological aspects of music pedagogy.
In 2025, the creative project "Working with Gifted Children in the Music Education System" will continue. Programs for the country’s music teachers will be held monthly at the Sirius Educational Center.
