New Akash Missile Scores Confirmed Kills in Ladakh

On July 16, 2025, India marked a significant milestone in its air defense capabilities by successfully test-firing the new variant of the Akash surface-to-air missile, the Akash Prime, in the high-altitude region of Ladakh. During the trial, conducted at an elevation of 15,000 feet, the Akash Prime system successfully tracked, locked onto, and destroyed two high-speed unmanned aerial targets, achieving two confirmed kills under challenging environmental conditions.
