Will the Key Rate Change This Year? Alpha-Bank Responds

The key rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation will not decrease further this year. This was reported in the "By the way, economics" Telegram channel.

According to the forecast, the rate will remain at 17%. Alpha-Bank analysts associate this forecast with the upcoming VAT increase and rising prices.

Earlier, Alexander Shokhin, head of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), expressed the opinion that by the end of this year the Central Bank might lower the key rate to 15%. This statement was made on September 20 at the venue of the I International Economic Forum held in Tskhinval. "I think the Central Bank is most likely to carry out two rate cuts, but no more than one percentage point each. And by the end of the year, it will be 15%," Shokhin noted. In the opinion of the RSPP president, analysts had generally predicted a more significant reduction of the key rate by the Central Bank of Russia.
