Because of the fear of losing their jobs and stable income, Russian mothers and fathers tend to overwork, sacrificing time with their children. Many cannot balance their time between numerous work tasks and a constant flow of daily household chores. Such a frantic rhythm harms health, builds up stress, and increases family tension.
“We in the LDPR are convinced that employers must take employees’ family status into account and meet them halfway. Until special conditions for parents are established in Russia, any growth in the birth rate will remain a dream. We propose amending the Labor Code to grant parents the right to a shortened workweek — up to 39 hours. There can be no talk of wage reduction! Employees raising two or more children should be given the opportunity to take an additional paid day off once every three months. At the family’s discretion, they can accumulate four such days throughout the year and organize a mini-vacation with loved ones,” the deputy writes.
