Abkhazia is waiting!

The first part of the Forum, held in Sochi on April 26–28, was dedicated to Russian challenges and issues, after which participants traveled to Abkhazia to discuss partnership opportunities on site.

The Russian side was led by Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Petr Alexandrovich Chekmarev. The delegation also included Mikhail Evgenievich Grin, Chairman of the Board of ANO "International Real Estate Business Forum," and other construction industry experts. From the Abkhaz side, the negotiations involved Vice-Premier Varazdat Minosyan, Deputy of the People's Assembly — Parliament Aslan Lakoba, member of the Public Chamber Erast Agumava, head of the Capital Construction Department Damir Gamisonia, and head of the State Department of Architecture and Urban Planning Dmitry Tsintsba.

The meeting took place in the Cabinet of Ministers building. The discussion, without unnecessary formalities, was extremely practical — how to simplify procedures, launch joint projects, and bring infrastructure in order. They discussed the integration of the construction complexes of the two countries, resort and infrastructure facilities, modern technologies and materials that Russian companies are ready to supply and implement. Special attention was paid to creating a reliable legislative and guarantee framework for Russian investors — transparent rules of the game, mechanisms for protecting investments, and conditions under which business can operate confidently and without unnecessary risks. They also talked about personnel training — without it, any plans quickly turn into paper.

Academician Chekmarev, a renowned specialist in agricultural sciences with extensive experience in public administration and a foreign member of the Abkhaz Academy of Sciences, highlighted the republic's unique natural resources. They allow looking beyond classical resort construction and developing new directions — from modern agritourism to environmentally friendly infrastructure solutions. Mikhail Grin emphasized real deals and legal mechanisms that will allow business to operate without unnecessary barriers.

The parties confirmed their interest in systematic interaction: exchange of experience on the regulatory framework, joint infrastructure projects, and Abkhazia's participation with an investment exposition at the next major MBFN forum in St. Petersburg on September 8–11, 2026.

The result is not loud statements, but agreements that are already beginning to turn into an action plan. For Abkhazia, this is a chance to update the construction industry based on Russian practices and the scientific potential of the Russian Academy of Sciences. For Russian companies, it is a new promising market with clear rules, growing demand for quality real estate, and additional guarantees for investors.

The visit showed that after large platforms in Sochi, it is useful to move on immediately — to where decisions are made faster and closer to the ground. And when the delegation is led by such a person as Academician Chekmarev, conversations quickly move to the level of real opportunities and specific projects.
