The Russian leader made his first official visit to India in 4 years, where talks are scheduled with the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The main topic of discussion will be energy trade, which has recently faced sanction pressure from the U.S., reported *Readovka* citing Kirill Kotkov, head of the Center for Far East Countries Studies.
He noted that some BRICS participating countries, including India, still depend on the global economic system, making secondary sanctions particularly sensitive for them. Politicians will seek answers to these challenges during the upcoming talks.
India remains an important market and partner for Russia, the expert emphasized. However, Russia now has to compete with China for the arms market in New Delhi. China has already modernized Pakistan's army, and India needs to maintain high rearmament rates. Under current conditions, Moscow should expand other export items to minimize risks of losing energy sales markets, summarized Kirill Kotkov.
