Putin questions US punishing India for buying Russian oil

Russian President Vladimir Putin rejected strong U.S. pressure on India to stop purchasing Russian energy unless Washington did the same, as he began a two-day state visit warmly welcomed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In remarks aired by Indian broadcaster India Today shortly after his arrival in New Delhi, Putin said that both nations aim to deepen trade ties and broaden the range of goods involved in their economic cooperation.
