India shows solidarity: PM Modi condemns UAE attacks in call with President

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Sunday night (March 1, 2026), condemning the recent attacks on the Gulf country and affirming India's solidarity with the UAE during this challenging period.

Mr. Modi expressed gratitude to the UAE President for supporting the Indian community in the country and emphasized New Delhi's commitment to de-escalation, along with promoting peace, security, and stability in the region.

"Spoke with President of the UAE, my brother Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Strongly condemned the attacks on the UAE and condoled the loss of lives in these attacks. India stands in solidarity with the UAE in these difficult times. Thanked him for taking care of the Indian community living in the UAE. We support de-escalation, regional peace, security and stability," Mr. Modi wrote on X.

Iranian strikes on the UAE over the past two days have caused three deaths and injured 58 people, including one Indian citizen, according to officials who confirmed the details on Sunday (March 1, 2026).

The Indian Embassy in the UAE posted on social media that it is aware of the injured Indian national and is coordinating with hospital officials.

The UAE's Defence Ministry reported intercepting 165 ballistic missiles, destroying 152 of them while 13 fell into the sea.

It also neutralized two cruise missiles and 541 Iranian drones, with 506 successfully shot down, the Ministry added.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei died in a joint U.S.-Israeli airstrike on Tehran early Saturday (February 28, 2026), with Iranian state media verifying his death on Sunday (March 1, 2026).
