In a related development, the next round of FTA negotiations between India and the European Union will be held from October 6 to 10. This was revealed by a source within the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Additionally, a second source close to the negotiations indicated that “almost all” issues pertaining to the India-EU FTA have been resolved, and there is a possibility of reaching an early harvest deal. EU Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič stated last week that both sides aim to meet the December deadline for concluding the full FTA.
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, reaffirmed this commitment on September 17, 2025, on social media, saying, “we are committed to finalising our trade agreement with India by the end of the year.”
The Ministry sources also confirmed that the next rounds of FTA negotiations with Chile will take place from October 27 to 31, and with Peru from November 3 to 5. Furthermore, a meeting to review the FTA with ASEAN countries is scheduled for October 6-7, with the expectation that the review will be completed by the end of the year.
