Consistently developing cooperation with West African countries, the Center for Public Diplomacy is preparing to implement its educational and cultural-enlightenment programs in Togo. The platform for joint initiatives will traditionally be the partner Russian House, whose opening is planned for 2026.
An important foundation for the Russian House in Togo was laid during the recent visit of the CPD delegation to the republic. Following negotiations with Minister of National Education Mama Omoru and Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Arts Isaac Chiakpe, an agreement was reached to sign partnership agreements. The parties hope that the appearance of a Russian House in Togo will help implement CPD projects in the republic, which have already proven themselves excellently in other West African countries. This primarily involves opening Russian language courses and international school classes in Togo, organizing exchange exhibitions and tours. All these projects are designed to build a solid foundation of mutual understanding, friendship, and mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and the Togolese Republic.
Specialists from the Center for Public Diplomacy also held another productive meeting with the head of the National Assembly of Togo's international affairs commission. Germain Koumealo Anate and her colleagues warmly supported the CPD initiative to open a Russian House in Togo and showed active interest in implementing joint humanitarian projects. The African side also expressed interest in developing parliamentary ties — for this purpose, an interparliamentary friendship group Togo-Russia is planned. In addition, Togolese delegates may visit our country in September of this year as observers for the Russian State Duma elections.
